What is EFT? and  Research Links

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a technique created by Gary Craig. He discovered that as you tap on certain meridian points while expressing your thoughts and feelings about stressful events and circumstances, it sends a calming signal to your amygdala, which is part of the limbic (emotional regulation) system in your brain. Your brain can now send a new signal that deactivates the stress hormones that put you in a state of fight, flight or freeze in the first place.

With many different EFT tapping variations, your healing journey can begin in a safe zone called a tolerance window. This allows you to become more powerfully centred, calm and collected in your life, leading to better decisions, relationships and health.

Conclusions:

Trauma‐focused cognitive behavioural therapy, in particular individual forms, appears to be most effective in the management of PTSD in youth. EMDR is effective but to a lesser extent. Supportive counselling does not appear to be effective. Results suggest a large positive effect for emotional freedom technique, child–parent psychotherapy, combined TF‐CBT/parent training, and meditation, but further research is needed to confirm these findings as they were based on very limited evidence.

My health took a turn for the worse at the end of December 2016, when"I crashed"! I slept literally 16 to 20 hours a day and still had no energy. In January 2017 I was diagnosed with major depression and burnout. After 3 weeks of sleeping, I decided it was enough. I needed to start getting my act together. As I was coming down the stairs with my overfilled laundry basket, I missed the last step. I blacked out, only to come to, sitting on the steps with excruciating pain in my right foot and bruising in my lower back, scrapes on my arm and a sore elbow. I waddled to the couch, got some ice to put on my body. I never even considered going to the hospital. I was raised to be tough. You don't go to the hospital! I did, however, go see the osteopath. 

EFT came into my life that spring. I found free EFT sessions and tapped along. They helped me feel better, although my health was still in jeopardy. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in July 2017, and I tried to go back to work in August 2017, but in September 2017, my psychologist diagnosed me with PTSD. That is when I decided to take an EFT Health Mastery course. In October 2017, my health took a turn for the worse again and I had to stop working in my longtime career as an elementary school teacher. Walking was now becoming difficult and so was decision-making. By the end of October 2017, I started taking medication upon my doctor's insistence. I blamed the medication for turning me into a Zombie for six weeks, although I was too numbed-out to be scared. It was difficult to read, to speak in complete sentences and even to drive. I had to wear sacral-lumbar support to stand for more than five minutes. Luckily, by mid-November, my psychologist referred me to a kinesitherapist. She helped me see I was just getting worse with the medication. That was the beginning of my amazing journey to reconnect with my soul! 

In June 2018, I ended a two-and-a-half-year toxic relationship!

I still remember a Wednesday night in February 2019. After waking up in the middle of the night, I heard in what seemed like a dream, the name Lindsey. So fed up with being woken up in the middle of the night for the past week or more, I googled, found and decided to join Deborah Lindsey's EFT course at the International Metaphysical University (IMU). The rest is history! Wow, I had no idea how much my deep emotions, hurts from my youth, and traumas were impacting my health. As I worked my way through the course, I felt better and better and decided to pursue this path of healing as a career. 

Today, I can easily hike 6 kilometres. My sleeping hours are back to normal, 8-10 hours per night. I can easily drive for one hour without stopping! Each day I celebrate my successes no matter how insignificant they may seem to others, they are a great victory for me. I still remember the day my body was able to sweat again, July 2019! Even though it was hot and humid outside, I was just so excited! I was now able to release toxins through my skin again!

l am now a Certified EFT Master Practioner since September 2019. Yes! When you are in the right place at the right time, things just come together. I believe that all my life issues and my desire to heal have been a huge part of my success. I have also learned that I am an intuitive empath, which gives me a heads up with guiding my clients on their healing journey. In December 2019, I completed the Conscious Parenting Mastery program with Dr. Shefali Tsabary.

Today I am so grateful for my journey, as it is what helps me understand my clients without judging them! It has become clear to me that I need to share my story, to give hope and courage to people who may be at the beginning of their journeys and feel very alone. You do not need to do this alone. There are many natural ways to heal. Do your best to listen to that inner voice, it will guide you on your journey.
